Our History; Our Heritage

Heathfield becomes Woodgreen

Woodgreen is located on Torrington Road in Strathfield, formerly Woodgreen Street, named after the Woodgreen Estate subdivided around 1880. This name pays tribute to the area's history, including George Hardie, Strathfield's first Mayor in 1885, who lived on Torrington Road.

The centre is housed in Heathfield, a notable example of Federation-era architecture. By repurposing this historic building for childcare, Woodgreen preserves local heritage while meeting community needs.

Our central location provides easy access to public transport, educational facilities, and local amenities, making it convenient for families.

We are committed to honouring the cultural and spiritual connections of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, promoting inclusive practices that enhance cultural awareness among children and strengthen community relationships.

Belonging to Woodgreen is fun!
